Florence + the Machine Bring a "Breath of Life" to the 'Snow White' Soundtrack

I’ve basically run out of superlatives and flowery adjectives with which to describe Florence + the Machine, and their latest offering leaves me likewise rather speechless.

Florence Welch and Co. have been tasked with being the musical voice of the upcoming fairy tale reimagining Snow White and the Huntsman. From the very first production stills to the latest trailers, we knew the film was going to have a certain aesthetic – when the first trailer came out in November, I likened to the look to a cross between 300 and The Lord of the Rings, and the music would most certainly have to reflect that. A bit of badassery mixed in with tonal epicness, a sort of “ethereal rock” vibe. Who better than Flo & the Mac to take up the challenge?

Florence was inspired to write “Breath of Life” after seeing Charlize Theron’s intense performance as the Evil Queen, and indeed, listening to the track evokes many provocative images of the Oscar-winning actress laying her wicked smackdown on her innocent stepdaughter (Kristen Stewart). THIS is what movie music is all about, folks.

Throw on a sweater, cuz this is gonna give you chills; take a listen to “Breath of Life” below:
