With all of the buzz surrounding the upcoming premiere of A&E’s “Bates Motel” (okay, mostly from me), which is a prequel inspired by Psycho, lest we forget that another famous cinematic serial killer is getting the TV treatment too!
Less than a month after a teenage Norman Bates hits the small screen, NBC will debut “Hannibal”, which revolves around the notorious cannibal Hannibal Lecter from Thomas Harris’s series of novels beginning with Red Dragon and then (most famously) Silence of the Lambs. The TV series will put more emphasis on the characters and plotlines of the first novel, in that it will explore the relationship between FBI agent Will Graham and Dr. Lecter, who quickly goes from being a benign and brilliant psychiatrist helping Graham catch a killer to a dangerous and brilliant serial killer that Graham needs to catch. Hugh Dancy will be playing Graham, and former Bond villain Mads Mikkelson will take on the legendary role of Lecter. Also rounding out the cast are Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford and, at some point, Anna Chlumsky!
The first teaser for the show has been released, which hints at a terrifying yet stylish thriller that will have underpants soiled on a weekly basis. Can’t wait! Check it out below!
“Hannibal” premieres on April 4 at 10pm on NBC.
