First 'Avengers: Infinity War' Trailer Brings All The Superhero Feels!

Superhero ensemble cast films are arguably the biggest (and most successful) trend of the 2010s. They are what period pieces and romantic comedies were to the '90s, and the Harry Potter series was in the '00s.

They are consistent box office hits and are more than just “films” -- they are major spectacles. Marvel has consistently delivered on all fronts for years. This time, under the direction of Anthony and Joe Russo, they may have just outdone themselves.

Avengers: Infinity War is the Mothership of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it just released a seriously intense trailer. Yes, we’ve seen that tiny bit of footage from Disney’s D23 Expo a few months ago, but that doesn’t even compare to this.

The film brings together all of your favorite heroes from the MCU over the years, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), and, of course the Three Chrises -- Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Chris Pratt (Starlord) -- just to name a few (of the MANY!).

You’ve seen them all separately, and now you get to see them all in one place; the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Avengers, Spider-Man, and countless other heroes from the Marvel universe. Now, approximately four years after the events in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, they’re collaborating to take on Thanos (played by Josh Brolin), who has been attempting to collect the Infinity Stones that would give him an immeasurable power to inflict evil.

The trailer opens with the foreboding words: “There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if we could become something more. So when they needed us, we could fight the battles that they never could.” Ominous music ensues and builds up to a montage of characters and epic fight sequences and a vague chronological run-through of the Avengers Initiative (Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, etc.). Later in the trailer, we see Doctor Strange finding an interloper in the Sanctum Santorum, which has Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) inside. We also see the Hulkbuster in Wakanda (setting of the new Black Panther movie and possibly the home of one of the coveted Infinity Stones). Then we catch a glimpse of Black Widow engaging in a brutal fight sequence with an unseen opponent (possibly Proxima?). Of course we also get to see Spider-Man both in costume and as Peter Parker. In the final scene of the trailer, we see Thor awaking in an unfamiliar space ship surrounded by aliens...

Although this trailer is building incredible hype, you will nonetheless have to wait until May of next year to catch the movie in its entirety. We’re happy we have the Black Panther movie (coming out in February) to hold us over until then!
