Blending comedy, cuteness, magic and random acts of fun - as his website boasts - he's like a magician, but cooler. I meet up with Justin at the world-famous Comedy Store on Sunset, where he was prepping for Cheap Trix; a vaudevillian show cobbled together using the various random talents of friends who perform everything from acrobatics to bull whipping tricks.
"I've been a magician for years and I have all these random friends," Justin says. "To me, all this stuff is normal."
Though it departs from his usual one-man stage show, "I like being the hosting guy," he tells me. "I've always loved the vaudeville era; why not take that idea using my friends - who I love and want to hang out with - and put them into a show."
It really speaks to Justin's character that he's so excited to showcase the talents of others, not just his own. In fact, in such a competitive field, he's anything but! He's awed and inspired by other acts that have come before him, saying, "I totally like to twist classics,"
And while magic tricks are great, it's the performance that matters most. "I want people to remember me, not just the tricks," he says. "And that they had fun."
Performing is his passion, and he started living his dream the moment, he says, "When I first realized I could do it for a living."
Right now, lucky SoCal residents can catch him locally: "I'm always touring," he adds, "especially around LA."
Wes Ferguson wore a shirt from the famous Voodoo Doughnut shop in Portland, Oregon for this interview that reads: "The magic is in the whole." He's a Hollywood lifestyle blogger & published author. Follow on Twitter: www.twitter.com/Westopher
