Fall Bucket List!

Happy October, y’all! I spoke to a few of my Pilgrim friends (yes, I’m name dropping), and they thought it was time to put together a Fall 2012 Bucket List. I thought I would be a good turkey and deliver the list to you. I know some of you had your hearts set on a trip to New England or Vermont this Fall, but the Pilgrims had other plans in mind. They promised to bring the Fall foliage to us, so there is no need to leave the golden state! I kinda like the sound of that, don’t you?

Well, if you’ve been dreaming of a red, orange, and yellow Autumn, I suggest you follow me this way. We just have to make a few pit stops at the pumpkin patch and apple orchard, but we’ll get to our destination in no time! Folks, let’s make Fall 2012 a memorable one! Here is a list of activities everyone is sure to love! Enjoy!

Apple Picking -- Are you an apple aficionado? Well, you’re in luck because 'tis the season for apple picking (and eating, baking, drinking, etc.). Getaway for a day and head over to these apple orchards, but be sure to call ahead! Here are a few local favorites:

Pumpkin Patches -- All in favor of visiting the pumpkin patch, say “I.” I think the adults are more excited than the the kids this year! Corn mazes, haunted houses, and pony rides, oh my! If that doesn’t pique your interest, then maybe the pumpkin beer will. P.S. A pumpkin carving/decorating party is a great way to get friends and family together! Follow the pumpkin road:

Haunted Hayride -- I went on a Haunted Hayride in the woods of Calabasas when it first opened a few years ago, and I loved every minute of it. I’m yet to visit the new location in Griffith Park, but I heard it’s “terrifying and awesome”! The lines get long, so you may want to purchase the VIP tickets. Also, check your local Gelson’s for coupons. Ticket information can be found here. Happy Haunting!

Scary Movies -- You can stick to Casper, Hocus Pocus, Edward Scissorhands, or Beetlejuice if you’re a wuss like me! Otherwise, there are plenty of scary movies out there to get your heart racing and bones shaking! Like... Paranormal Activity 4... which will be in theaters October 19. I’m known to scream and jump out of my seat, so you’re better off sitting far, far away from me!

Theme Parks -- This is an annual Halloween tradition! You’re sure to have a spooktacular time at any one of the following: Knott's Scary Farm 40th Haunt, Halloween Horror Nights At Universal Studios, or “The Happiest Place On Earth” Disneyland. Let the thrill and excitement begin!

Oktoberfest -- Ah, but yes, we can’t leave Oktoberfest out! “Put on your Lederhosen and get your stein ready for the L.A. Oktoberfest! Sample traditional German foods, beers, and sing along to your favorite old time tunes.” Tickets available here.

Fall Foliage Destinations -- We’ve finally made it, friends! I greatly appreciate your patience. Here are some fall foliage destinations. Check out this list by the L.A. Times. In addition to that list, here are some other spots:

Thanks for reading through my #FallBucketList. Can I be a busybody and ask what’s on yours? Feel free to share! We’d love to hear from our wonderful readers! Looks like the time has come for me to spread my wings and fly. Wait, do turkeys fly? Anywho, have a great one, all!
