Rihanna performs live

Can we all agree that Rihanna's new song "Only Girl" is an instant mood lifter?

I hear a HECK YAH, so let's roll with it. We all have our down days -- in a matter of seconds it can all be turned around with a good beat. In honor of the natural mood enhancer that is music, here are 5 instantly uplifting songs!

"Only Girl" by Rihanna

We all want to be the only one that matters to somebody. RiRi has been very solemn lately and sort of serious about stuff. This club-thumping anthem takes the Barbadian beauty back to her roots and puts a sinister, sexy smile on the hook. Welcome back, girlfriend -- let's hit the dance floor!

"Laid" by James

They remade this obscure indie song for American Pie, but the original is still the best. The band made a blip on the pop culture radar in the "˜90s, if you're a music historian or whatever. Point is, good music never dies. This free-floating acoustic rocker puts you in the mood and leaves you with a happy ending.

"Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus

Whether you love or loathe the Disney princess, this is kind of the jam, y'all. People have been blasting this from their car windows for months on end. They all look pretty damn happy to me, and they're showing no signs of shame about rocking out to Miley. Street cred puts her safely on the cool meter.

"Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot

Get out if you don't know this song. Just shut your computer down and get out, go somewhere; do something else right now. I can't. But of course, you've heard this butt ballad. Who can resist such charms? Everybody loves this uproarious rap song, another gem from the "˜90s. It was a fun time, or so I've heard from old people.

"Your Love is My Drug" by Ke$ha

Seriously, you can't help it. You've tried to avoid it. But every time you turn the radio dial, she's giggling louder than an 808 drum. Eventually you break. You know the words. You sing along. You give yourself over and just have a good time.
