Entourage

HBO's hit show, "Entourage," has become an addiction that nobody wants to kick. Every episode leaves us yearning for more, and the seasons always seem to end far too soon. With an all-star cast that includes Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly and Jeremy Piven and storylines that deliver consistent laughs, it is no surprise that this series has reinvented HBO. Produced by Oscar nominated actor, Mark Wahlberg, the show centers around Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), a young, up and coming actor who has recently moved to Los Angeles with his two closest friends and his brother, struggling actor Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon). The show chronicles the day-to-day lives of these four hip New Yorkers living out the American Dream in Los Angeles while struggling to balance the trappings of fame with maintaining a normal life, romantic relationships and everything in between. The series gives a unique, inside perspective on modern-day Hollywood and the harsh realities (and benefits) of being a part of the dog eat dog entertainment industry. Vincent's neurotic agent, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) and his sidekick assistant, Lloyd (Rex Lee) provide a lot of additional laughs with the constant hijinks that ensue whenever they have a new idea to promote Vincent. The show has also become known for its guest star appearances by such talent as James Cameron, Kanye West, Martin Landau, Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, Adam Goldberg and Edward Burns. Mark Wahlberg has said that the inspiration for the series comes from his real-life experiences in Hollywood. Much like the series, Mark moved to Los Angeles from the East Coast to follow his tinseltown dreams, and the adventures he and his friends experienced have become the basis of many "Entourage" scripts. His journey to Hollywood has paid off greatly. Mark is consistently receiving critical and peer praise for his ever growing body of work, and he can now say he is an executive producer of a show on HBO that has been graced with several award nominations and wins. The series has been nominated by the 2008 Golden Globes for Best Television Series-Comedy, and Jeremy Piven and Kevin Dillon are nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For Television. The show has also garnered several other Golden Globe and Emmy nominations over the past couple of years and has won for Best International Program at the 2007 British Academy Television Awards. Jeremy Piven, a favorite character among loyal viewers of the show, has won two Emmys in a row for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. With constant guest star appearances, references to favorite Los Angeles hotspots and the latest headlines in pop culture, and well written, hilarious scripts acted out by an award worthy cast, it is obvious that "Entourage" has raised the bar for all hit comedy series in the present and future.
