Eddie Murphy, starring in the new film Tower Heist alongside Ben Stiller, Casey Affleck, and Matthew Broderick, has some other additional plans for his future. Originally, Tower Heist was meant to be a full African-American cast — what Murphy initially signed for, which included Chris Rock and Chris Tucker.
The comedic actor is currently working on another project, writing a comedy with a predominantly African-American cast. Murphy has always wanted to work with a largely black-cast film and feels that writing one himself is the best way to do it. Specifically, Eddie has stated that he wishes to work with the replaced stars, Rock and Tucker, on this mysterious project that we hear has to do with some extraterrestrials...
As of right now, Murphy’s all-black film is just an idea that he calls “Jamal and Tyrell and Omar and Brick and Michael’s Wack-Ass Weekend,” a story about a group of guys who happen to get abducted by aliens on the way to flights for their “wack-ass weekend”. His dream is for fellow black comedians to star in this film, like fellow friends Tracy Morgan, Martin Lawrence, and Dave Chappelle.
Having worked with aliens before, he decided that he wants another shot at it, hoping to enter a career renaissance with this new fun film idea. Previously, Murphy has writing credits for various films that he starred in, like Norbit, Vampire in Brooklyn, Boomerang, and Another 48 Hours.
Be sure to watch Murphy in Tower Heist this weekend, and he will also be hosting the 2012 Oscars.
