Thanksgiving is a beautiful holiday because it encourages gluttony. The mashed potatoes! The stuffing! The turkey! The pumpkin pie (with whipped cream)! Oh, I’m so very hungry now...
But gluttony gets the best of us though when we put deliciousness over common sense and safety. With a little help from State Farm Insurance, William Shatner has taken it upon himself to warn you that if you are going to take your taste buds to a higher level by deep frying your turkey, you need to be prepared! In “Eat, Fry, Love”, Shatner tells the tale of his tumultuous love affair with a turkey deep fryer. He listened to his body instead of his brain, which was telling him to follow the proper procedures, but the Shat Man’s hunger for, well, a deep-fried turkey proved too much for him to handle and he gets burned in the process, both literally and figuratively. Will he ever find courage in his heart to deep fry a turkey again?
With Thanksgiving just a week away, it’d be a good idea to watch and learn from Shatner. There are some useful tips at the end of the video that should help you come out unscathed during the deep frying process. Also, keep the tissues close; it’s a real tear-jerker!
