So, it’s official: Football players rule the dancefloor.
That was made clear enough last night when Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver followed in the footsteps of Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward by walking away with the championship and Mirror Ball Trophy on “Dancing With the Stars”. It was a doubly-sweet victory for his partner, sophomore pro Peta Murgatroyd, who went home in the first week last season! (Ironically, her partner at that time was another athlete – Metta Ron World Peace Artest!)
It was definitely a season to remember, one that saw 9’s and 10’s being handed out in only the first couple weeks! Donald, who had openly admitted to being a fan of the show since Smith fox-trotted away with the title in Season 3, managed to beat out favorites William "Muy Caliente" Levy and Katherine "Beautiful Tragedy" Jenkins, both of whom had consistently dominated the leader board throughout the competition. I’d never seen Len Goodman smile so much… nor Bruno Tonioli have to change his pants as often.
But now that Season 14 is behind us, it’s time to look ahead to Season 15 in the fall… which will be an All-Stars edition! Yep, twelve of your favorite celebs from seasons past will get the opportunity to cha-cha-cha their dear little hearts out in an effort to claim ultimate DWTS supremecy! And the best part is, YOU get to have a say! Yep, just pay a visit to the DWTS website and voice YOUR opinion on who should get to return. All past contestants are fair game, including winners! Personally, I’d love for the All-Stars season to consist of nothing BUT winners!
In fact, here is my dream All-Star line-up (with my favorite pros):
Donald Driver, with Peta Murgatroyd
J.R. Martinez, with Karina Smirnoff
Jennifer Grey, with Tristan MacManus
Nicole Scherzinger, with Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Donny Osmond, with Kym Johnson
Shawn Johnson, with Mark Ballas
Brooke Burke, with Tony Dovolani
Kristi Yamaguchi, with Val Chmerkovskiy
Hélio Castroneves, with Karina Smirnoff
Apolo Anton Ohno, with Anna Trebunskaya
Emmitt Smith, with Cheryl Burke
Drew Lachey, with Lacey Schwimmer
Make it happen, America!
