Dumb & Dumber sequel.

 

Those three-words-and-an-ampersand evoke chilling memories of a 2003 prequel involving no one at all from the original 1994 film that we would all prefer to forget. Much like 6th grade or the shot-for-shot remake of Psycho (maybe that’s just me).

 

Well, good news, Harry & Lloyd purists! After years of speculation, casting hang-ups, and script rewrites, a PROPER sequel to the immortal tale known as Dumb & Dumber will FINALLY be clawing its way out of development hell and into glorious reality! Hilariously titled Dumb & Dumber To, the Farrelly Brothers are bringing their lovably abominable creations back to life, having announced that not only is a script nearly completion but that original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are definitely back on board. AW LAWK IT AWLAW.

 

According to reports, the plot of the sequel will involve Harry & Lloyd trying to track down one of their alleged offspring, but not to reconnect for some father-child bonding – no, they just need a kidney. Hilarity!

 

A lot has happened in the respective careers of Carrey and Daniels in the past 18 years (holy crap!) since Dumb & Dumber was released. Carrey has found some success in a slew of dramatic pieces, reserving his signature quirk for more high-concept projects. Meanwhile, Daniels, for whom Dumb & Dumber was actually a departure, currently calls HBO home with his Aaron Sorkin-created series “The Newsroom”. Looks like this sequel could be not only a homecoming for both of them but a nice respite from their day jobs!

 

Look for the triumphant return of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne sometime in 2014!

 

P.S. - I hope they bring back Sea Bass!!!
