Dreamworks Animation Purchases Your Entire Childhood

I always love a film that pays tribute to the classics, and that is exactly what Dreamworks plans on doing. Recently, Dreamworks Animation acquired Classic Media by shelling out a cool $155 million in cash.

This deal gives the studio access to characters such as Postman Pat, George of the Jungle, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Lassie, and Where’s Waldo. All of these names take us all back to our childhood in one way or the other, and I am sure this is what Dreamworks is banking on.

We all love a little nostalgia in our lives, and Hollywood has been providing us with plenty of that in recent years. After all, what better way to do this that go to movie that evokes those childhood memories?

Dreamworks is hoping to remind you of what you once loved, while also putting their own unique and creative spin on the subjects. But this acquisition does beg the question: will the company only focus their efforts on adapting projects from the past, or will they still come up with their own original stories as well?  I hope that it is a little bit of both, but only time will tell.
