DoSomething.org Names Its Most Charitable Celebs of 2011

DoSomething.org, the awesome organization that strives to make community service the norm among young people, has announced the Top 20 most generous celebs of 2011. Lady Gaga was top dog in 2010, and this year she has done it again! And boy, is it well-deserved! She spent all year campaigning for anti-bullying legislation and has plans to launch her own organization, the Born This Way Foundation. Her foundation’s goal is to eliminate intolerance and empower and inspire individuals. But Gaga didn’t stop there; she also teamed up with MAC cosmetics to create a new lipstick where 100% of sales would go to the MAC AIDS Fund.

Impressive, Gaga, very impressive.

The runner-up was tween heartthrob and Mr. Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, who made a leap from his number 10 spot last year. This year ,he launched his own charity, called Believe Charity Drive, which supports music education and other causes, like children’s cancer. In addition to that, he encouraged his fans to take part in the Pencils of Promise campaign, Schools 4 All, which benefits the creation of new schools.

The rest of the celebs rounding out the top 10 are as follows:

3. George Clooney

4. Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith

5. Leonardo DiCaprio

6. Matt Damon

7. Ellen Degeneres

8. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

9. Dwight Howard

10. Demi Lovato

Most of these are hardly surprising (which is a good thing!), and I recommend checking out 11 through 20; while there maybe get inspired to start “doing something” yourself!

It’s always nice to see celebs doing something good with their resources and influence instead of the naughty things we read about in the tabloids. Keep it up!
