Don't Give Up! 6 Ways to Keep Your New Year's Resolutions!

Written by Amanda Baltazar. Published: January 16 2014

We’re only a couple weeks into 2014, and I hope everyone’s New Year’s resolutions are still going strong! But, unfortunately, it is around this time when people start abandoning their resolutions. Sad, but true. Here are a couple tips to keep up with your New Year’s resolution whatever it may be!

Let’s start with…

1. Just because you stopped, it doesn’t mean you can’t start again.

If you already feel like you have given up your resolution, don’t feel bad. Just start over! You don’t need a new year to keep trying to reach your goal.

2. Start slow.

Whether your resolution is to start eating better or exercising more, just start slow. Start eating more of those fruits and veggies during the day or go out for a walk. You don’t have to go crazy on the first day. Give yourself time to get to where you want to be.

3. Remind yourself of your goals.

Get a white board and write down your goal(s) and put it up where you will see it every day! Try putting it on your door so you see it as you leave the house. Reminders of what you want will keep you focused and on top of your goals.

4. Be positive.

Your attitude is a huge factor in keeping your resolution! Remember that it’s your resolution for a reason! It’s really easy to give up but stay positive, and who knows what you can achieve.

5. Remember that change takes time.

Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t seeing results. Change takes time. Whether you’re trying to lose a couple pounds or you’re trying to save money for a house, you need to give it time.

6. Consistency

Try to work your goal into your day and then do it every day. The more you do it, the easier it gets, hopefully!

Whatever your New Year’s resolution might be, just remember that you don’t need a new year to start making changes in your life. This is your year to improve and get better! The trending #NewYearNewMe couldn’t be more accurate!

Good luck with your resolutions, everyone! You got this!
