If you're anything like me, your perfect movie night consists of a dark room, a giant bowl of popcorn, and the scariest zombie movie you can find. In my eyes, there’s nothing better than a scary movie -- except maybe the chance to live out the movie myself, and this could soon be a reality!
Don’t worry, the entire world is not going to be taken over by re-animated corpses, but if developers get their way, Detroit may be the new home to Z World, the world's first zombie-themed amusement park. The idea for the park sprung up as a solution to revamp the city and stir up some tourism to help stimulate the economy.
Over the past few years, large sections of the Detroit area have been abandoned, leaving the buildings in disarray, and the Detroit government has been in talks of demolishing the buildings. However, independent contractors have been thinking of creative ways to save these run-down areas of Detroit, and we think they are on to something with Z World!
Z World will differ from other amusement parks in the way that it will not be host to death-defying rollercoasters but will act more like one big survival camp. The idea for the park is that you and your group of friends will arrive and be set loose in the game. It will be an overnight experience, as you and your group will try to survive the zombie apocalypse. The goal is to make it through the night by finding refuge in abandoned warehouses and homes; however, if you get caught by the zombies, then you must spend the rest of the night hunting down your friends, so really the fun never ends. If developers go through with the plans, Z World will be the first amusement park of its kind.
Z World is every zombie movie aficionado’s dream come true. We all think we could make better decisions than movie characters in terms of where to hide, or where to run, and Z World will give us a chance to see if we really are as "trained" to survive the zombie apocalypse as we think we are. I sure do hope plans for the project get approved, because this is definitely something I think could be a lot of fun and great asset to the city of Detroit.
