An overexcited girlfriend first told me about Criss Angel a few years ago when he just started breaking big and doing the Mindfreak thing on Broadway. A great many people share my aversion of so-called magicians, so she was not surprised I didn't immediately share her enthusiasm. One time, a magic act came to our church. One of the tricks involved a coloring book that he showed us was brand new, then magically became colored in when he waved his wand. My voice echoed through the hall suddenly, you flipped to different pages in the back! I was eight. Magic has changed since then. After seeing clips from his live show, and well, my mind was appropriately freaked. Natch, Criss scored a TV show of the same name. He is perhaps best known for changing the image of the modern day magic man, shattering yet another illusion - of what a magician should be. He moved his A&E show to the Luxor last year, where he's building a new show. I just so happened to be in Vegas at a wedding about a month ago, staying at the Luxor. With all the construction, there was no way to miss what looks to be a spectacular new live show, Believe. The gothic spectacular promises a surreal journey with choreography by Wade Robinson and the performers of Cirque du Soleil. Sold. As a man of his craft, Criss Angel is on top of the world - and that's no illusion! Word.
