Cool Haus: The Ice Cream Truck Cometh

With the hottest social networking site at their disposal, there’s a cool new treat hitting Hollywood. Here’s why you should be following Cool Haus.

As a kid, I once fell flat on my face while running after the ice cream man, thrusting up my dollar bill in the air in a last ditch effort to get his attention. If there were ever a movie of my life, it would start with running after the truck, an epic trip on the sidewalk, then a cut to the dollar bill, and finally the brake lights of the ice cream truck. Opening credits would roll as a young me devoured the most delicious ice cream of my life.

Nowadays the experience comes without the potential road rash. “We roam the entire radius of LA and update our location on Twitter,” co-founder Natasha Case explains. Those old school days of chasing the ice cream truck just got an upgrade. Thanks, technology!

The truck just got rolling, but as to a regular schedule she says, “We will be at the Brig most Saturday afternoons with Kogi {the delicious Korean BBQ I told you about, at Barnsdall Art Park for Silver Lake Wine Tasting featuring our "Honeyhock" Ice Cream in honor of Hollyhock House, and at the Brentwood Country Mart also on Saturday's en route to Venice. We will also be at LA Film Fest throughout the month of July and late June.”

Right now they’re working on a non-dairy and low fat desert called the "Frank Lloyd Light,” as all Cool Haus ice cream is their own special blend. “We developed the recipes. Some we make ourselves, and some we work with local manufacturers who can run our recipes but have bigger machinery,” Nadia adds. “We can also create custom flavors for special events or themes. We’re working on edible spoons and popsicles shaped like skyscrapers!”

Besides following the street team {twitter.com/COOLHAUS}, Cool Haus is available at Wurstkuche Sausages downtown, Stories Cafe in Echo Park, and Shutters Hotel/Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica.
