In case you missed it, here's the scoop on some of the convention's biggest news stories and highlights.
- All of you zombie fans might already be aware that the bestselling book, World War Z, is being turned into a movie; but you probably didn't know that Brad Pitt has signed on to star in the film version.
- Mark Ruffalo is taking over the role of the Hulk from Edward Norton in the new Avengers movie directed by Joss Whedon. The movie also features Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Chris Evans as Captain America. But where, pray tell, is our beloved Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar)??
- The trailer for Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth as the title character, made its debut to rave reviews, but sadly it is not yet available to watch online. Still waiting for the Marvel execs to decide to share it with the rest of the world!
- Director Zack Snyder (300) gave the Comic-Con crowd the inside scoop on his new movie, Sucker Punch, which is about five girls who escape from an insane asylum. It stars Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Browning, Jena Malone, and Jamie Chung. This flick has been described as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns." I'm sold!
- Angelina Jolie was given the title of "Queen of the Nerds" while she was there to promote Salt; the fans think she's the nicest Comic-Con celeb and the most willing to give autographs. She's not U.N. Goodwill Ambassador for nothing, folks!
- Ryan Reynolds showed up to debut footage from the upcoming Green Lantern (and give the women in the audience a collective heart attack when they saw him in his costume... *swoon*). But there was plenty for the menfolk too: Blake Lively was criticized for showing too much cleavage during the panel discussion, but it's doubtful that any of the fellas in the audience were doing the complaining.
- Disney premiered a trailer for the much-anticipated Tron: Legacy, starring recent Oscar winner Jeff Bridges and featuring a ton of CGI effects (such as a 35-year-old Jeff Bridges!).
- MTV screened the one-hour drama, "Teen Wolf", which got rave reviews but unfortunately won't debut until early next year.
- Alexander Skarsgard was shooting a movie and couldn't be there in the flesh, so "True Blood" co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer carried a cardboard cutout of him onstage. Yes, the crowd still went wild.
- In "Glee" news, Kurt will be getting a boyfriend this season, there will be another Madonna episode, and a Rocky Horror Picture Show episode as well.
- Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World premiered at Comic-Con, with star Michael Cera in attendance wearing a homemade Captain America costume. Maybe that will help him kick butt while fighting those seven evil ex-boyfriends.
If you weren't able to go to Comic-Con this year, take heart: only 364 days until next year's convention!
