College Football

When you think of Hollywood, college football is not among the first things that may come to mind. However, this year in college football has been packed with more drama then an episode of Desperate Housewives. Take perennial college football doormat Rutgers, which has taken on the identity of America's team with their dramatic rise to the top of the college rankings.

After over 130 years of laughable losing, they now are among only four teams to remain undefeated to this point. With a chance to go to the National Championship Game, their Cinderella story would be more then any Hollywood screenwriter could ever contemplate. Perhaps fairy tales were never your favorite, and you prefer stories of dramatic comebacks of those fallen from grace. Then look no further then the reestablishment of Notre Dame as the University of Football. Led by Heisman frontrunner Brady Quinn, Notre Dame has rekindled its magical glory not scene since the movie Rudy. Still others prefer stories of historic battles fought by the mightiest of warriors. Which may explain why this weekend plays host to one of the most highly anticipated games in recent memory. This Saturday consistent powerhouse programs Michigan and Ohio State, will meet to decide the heavy favorite to win the National Championship. Both teams, undefeated and from the same conference, find themselves in a position not seen in college football since The Depression. Taking a centuries old rivalry to new heights, that will draw the attention of 10's of millions from all over the world. The storylines are innumerable, and collegiate athletics remain true to the sport itself, something easily relatable to anyone who has played a pick-up game in their backyard. So this Saturday skip the movie and popcorn, and bear witness to drama in its purist form. Ryan Edwards
