When you hear the name Chris Hemsworth, what comes to mind? My guess is that you think about the Next Big Action Star. And who could blame you after films like Star Trek, Thor, The Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman, as well as the soon-to-be-released Red Dawn and Spielberg's upcoming Robopocalypse? Over the past couple years, it seems as though Hemsworth has been typecast as the hero in big action blockbusters. However, that mold is about to be broken.
Over the past couple of days, director Ron Howard has been tweeting hints about his sports drama, Rush, which is scheduled for release next summer. The film stars Hemsworth who plays the charming English Formula One driver named James Hunt. Although his career did not last long, Hunt went against a star Austrian driver for the 1976 Formula One title. For Hemsworth, this film is definitely a horse of a different color.
This role could be Hemswoth’s most dramatic and serious role to date. The story itself doesn’t rely on fantasy as its main focus, like Hemsworth’s previous films, but rather it is grounded in reality and it is based on Hunt’s actual life and career. Even though this is quite a more challenging role for the actor, I believe he will pull through with flying colors. If you look at the picture from the film, Hemsworth looks confident in his red jumper. I know Hemsworth can pull off charming with ease, and although he has yet to be in a big film based on a real life event, I think he will find some way to put a little magic into the part.
So buckle up and get ready for the high octane biopic Rush! I know I’m ready!
