Event Producer and author of Party Like A Rock Star Jes Gordon is breaking down the Hollywood party trends so you can treat your guests like superstars!

Jes’ celeb clients include Bono, Madonna, Sean Combs, Timberland, Jennifer Lopez and many more. (For services, see www.jesgordon.com)

Right now, even the biggest and most lavish events are going green, Jes says. “Use sustainable and disposable items such as eating utensils -- bamboo forks and knives and hardy paper plates and cups. Also, using decor that’s sustainable, like orchid plants rather than cut flowers.”

If you’re entertaining an adult crowd, spice it up! When asked to name one of her favorite parties she designed, Jen says she has fond memories of the after party for a Victoria’s Secret Fashion show a few years back hosted by Sting.

“The party was so debaucheries in its decor and everything else,” she says.” The lighting oozed sex, we provided condom bouquets in the bathrooms, and served a buffet of gorgeous fruits and cheeses atop naked human bodies with certain areas disguised of course!”

CELEB STYLE ON A BUDGET: “Decorate with faux fur throws, lots of pillows, lighting and mirrors and reflective surfaces that make everything go bling,” she suggests.

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS: One of the most difficult aspects of throwing a party is room-to-people-to-food ratio. Jen says to invite based on personal space: “In a perfect world, each one of your guest's should have about 7-9 feet of personal space in the room, if they’re at a seated dinner make sure they have a couple of feet in between guests,” she adds. “Food needs to be plentiful but not gorge-like. Plan on each guest having at least 4 or 5 of each type of appetizer and 3 to 5 drinks per person”

If you’re the guest, thank the host! “Another great thing to do is to give a post event gift of a great photo you captured of your host at their own party in a lovely frame,” Jen says.
