Combining her famous burlesque moves with other elements of dance and fitness, Miss Dakota, a headlining performer at the famous Forty Deuce burlesque club in both Hollywood and Las Vegas, has developed a whole new exercise routine that she terms the Burlesque Body by Dakota. This new workout is designed to slim and tone, and in the process it will help you lose your inhibitions, gain confidence through learning to love your body and you will pick up the art of burlesque. The best part is that anyone can do it, as the workout is made to help everyone from the amateur to the athletic!Recently, burlesque has experienced a huge rise in popularity thanks to clubs like the aforementioned Forty Deuce and the performers that headline there regularly, such as Miss Dakota and Dita Von Teese. Celebrities have also taken notice and Miss Dakota's burlesque act has been the highlight of A-list events such as Sting's birthday party, the M.A.C. Cosmetics Spring Launch and Vogue magazine's annual Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Gala in New York. Miss Dakota says that the attraction to burlesque is because it is different than stripping in that burlesque is all about the art of the tease .[it] is all about leading you to the very edge of seeing something and then holding back. It is about anticipation [and] sensuality rather than sexuality.Miss Dakota has been dancing from the young age of 5, while growing up in the Bronx. After studying in a performing arts high school, she went on to the Fieldston Arts Academy and also studied ballroom and Latin dance under world champion competition dancers. She got bitten by the acting bug and studied at David Mamet's prestigious Atlantic Theatre Company, continuing on to HB Studios in New York City and an acting coach in Los Angeles. Her skill as a dancer earned her the job of choreographer for some of today's top music artists, such as Enrique Iglesias, Prince, George Michael and Maroon 5. It was ultimately her flare for the dramatic, her extensive training in various forms of dance including ballet, salsa, flamenco and jazz and her fiery Puerto Rican background that helped her create the burlesque moves she is known for today. She has generously passed it on to all of us in one neat little dance workout package called The Burlesque Body. The Burlesuqe Body incorporates the art of the tease with cardio/body sculpting and one look at Miss Dakota's sexy curves tells you that she is more than qualified to be a fitness consultant. This hot new dance workout is currently available at gyms and private workshops in Studio City, Malibu and Venice and will soon be available nationwide, when Miss Dakota releases a workout series of the same name on DVD. A Young Hollywooder recently had the chance to check out one of the classes and told us that the routine is definitely worth working in regularly as part of your exercise regime.
