You may not know these two blonde bombshells by name but their faces have been gracing magazine pages and televisions for years. Identical twins, Brit & Alex Smith, first gained notice in the ninth grade, when they started to model for the John Frieda Sheer Blonde hair products campaign. That wasn't the girls first experience in front of the cameras, however. At the age of three, they were cast as Baby Jessica in the daytime drama, One Life to Live.ù They left the show a year later to move to London, where they have lived off and on for the past 17 years.The twins didn't want to limit their skills to just modeling and acting. They both had an inner desire to make their voices heard, and started to exhibit a passion for music at an early age, where they often performed at local talent shows, singing with their father's band. At the age of 17, Brit & Alex dropped out of the spotlight to focus on developing a music career. While still in high school, they co-wrote over 60 songs with various young producers and, upon graduation, they moved to Atlanta to work with famous producer, Dallas Austin. Dallas, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the business including Madonna, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, has been working with the girls for the past two years to help them develop their own sound based on their influences and lifestyle.Brit & Alex may be identical but they have very different voices, inspirations and styles. Brit is the more outgoing twin with a short, funky haircut and a voice as powerful as the female divas she admires, such as Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. She describes her personal style as a mix between Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Blondie.ù Alex is the quieter sister with the longer hair and the soft, raspy, soulful voice. She is inspired by artists like Michael Jackson and the late great Jimi Hendrix. Her style is best described as boho chic, a free-spirited, hippie look in the same vein as Kate Moss and Goldie Hawn.The girls refer to their collaborative sound as melting popù and it varies from hip hop beats to R&B to rock. They may look model perfect but their deep roots in Motown, soul and funk make them highly accessible and relatable to any music lover. Brit & Alex are a breath of fresh air to the music world, and Young Hollywood predicts that it won't be long before they are gracing your local radio station with the sounds of their original music.
