Sometimes a girl just can't win. Michelle Obama has been hailed as the most fashionable first lady ever; while alternately being criticized for her overly-angular eyebrows. Yes, people care about the president's wife's eyebrows, this is a real thing.
Why? Well, if you're a jerk like Bill O'Reilly (let's just call it like it is), a woman's facial expressions provide fodder to fuel speculation that she is angry or mean. This phenomenon also creeps into the daily lives of everyday people, even non-jerk types without their own TV show.
Like it or not, severe features give you what I call "bitch face." Unless it is the intent to look super intense, tone it down girlfriend!
"In the very beginning when I was training Michelle's brows, I trained them to grow in an angular way," her makeup artist, Ingrid Grimes-Myles, told the Chicago Tribune. "When she started getting that feedback -- I have a rule: When three or more people give you feedback, that means hundreds are talking about it -- then what I began to do is bring them down and train them down."
If you're doing your own brows, remember the basics: They should be thickest near the nose, without extending past the edge of the nostrils; getting thinner from the corner of your nose continuing past the outer corner of your eye, where your brow should stop. You may want a professional to help you get the right arch for your face shape.
"If you look at some of Michelle's pictures today," Grimes-Myles said, "you'll see the difference and the growth."
Insert obligatory pun about "change" here.
