Bid on a Chance to Meet Bieber, Gaga, and More, for Green Causes!

The legendary Christie's Auction House has truly stood the test of time.

Since their establishment in 1766, by James Christie, Christie’s has overseen grand auctions during the span of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. To this day, Christie’s continues to be a haven for exhibiting beautiful pieces of art, jewelry, photographs, and other unique collectibles.

Over the past 245 years, Christie's has proven to be a key component in history, so it is no wonder such a spectacular establishment works with some of the most significant non-profits who are fighting for the preservation of our natural environment, just as Christie’s appreciates and preserves some of the world's rare antiquated objects.

This year marks the second annual Christie’s Green Auction: Bid to Save the Earth, a live event and companion online auction whose goal is to raise money and awareness surrounding the preservation and sustainability of our planet. Christie’s has paired up with CharityBuzz and some of the world's most influential industry leaders, creative icons, international celebrities, and activists to build a collection of over 200 desirable items to be auctioned off from March 17 through April 7.

Proceeds from the auction will be going toward the conservation organizations Oceana, Natural Resources Defense Council, Conservation International, and Central Park Conservancy. Even though the thought alone of giving to four incredible causes is enough motivation, the experiences and items that are up for auction make it hard not to be a key player in the conservation of our planet -- An up-in-the-air experience with Harrison Ford in his private plane, a day with President Bill Clinton, cocktails with Chevy Chase, VIP tickets and a meet-and-greet in Tokyo with Justin Bieber, 3 nights in Miami where you meet Lady Gaga, trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Jamaica, Tanzania, and so much more are all extraordinary incentives to give!

But that’s not all. In collaboration, on March 29, Christie’s and the non-profit organization Runway to Green will be holding an invite-only event at Rockefeller Center in New York City, which will consist of a live fantasy auction by Christie’s and a fashion show by Runway to Green sponsored by Tiffany & Co. Runway to Green will be showcasing the talents of 20 fashion designers worldwide who will put together a collection for the 2011 Fall season.

As much as you can do as an individual, Christie’s, Charitybuzz, Runway to Green, all of the charitable celebs, leaders, and YOU are examples of what can happen when we come together as a collective force promoting social change. We only have one planet, and we should be doing all that we can in order to preserve it to the best of our abilities. There is no price on being an environmentalist, no minimum or maximum to what you can give or do in order to help.
