Are you having/attending an Oscar Party? Please to enjoy: Tips for success at this or any entertainment-based gathering.

Know your material. You don't have to see every movie, but try to get a good idea of who's who. If you're really up on your game, you can impress with bits of trivia or juicy gossip about the nominees.

Rock the vote. Get everybody to guess the winners. Being crowned the night's game champ is prize in itself, but you can spice it up with gifts for the top dog - or cash money by asking everybody to put in a few dollars at the beginning of the night.

You can never go wrong with chips and salsa. You just can't! For gym bunnies watching their figure, stock up on health-conscious treats like the original blue corn chips from Garden of Eatin or Guiltless Gourmet crisps (about half the fat with fewer calories) and fresh homemade salsa. A zesty, healthful snack!

Ditto goes for champagne. It's bubbly fun. To ensure a safe drive home, guests can enjoy a non-alcoholic substitute. You can even make your own. A great way to toast the evening.

Dollar store decorations. You'd be amazed how well a few cheap table decorations and streamers jazz up the place. Stay thrifty by reusing streamers as gift-packing material instead of buying tissue paper.

Casting call: The best tip for any party is to compile a good guest list. If you know certain people don't mix, keep them out of the sauce.
