ATX: A Television Festival Kickstart

While there are thousands of film and music festivals, it seems that television has gotten the short end of the stick... until now.
ATX is celebrating all things television and will be held in Austin, Texas, the state responsible for popular TV shows such as “Friday Night Lights”, ABC Family’s “The Lying Game,” and the highly anticipated reboot of “Dallas.” The festival will take place June 1 to 3, just in time to heat up your summer and kick off summer television series premieres.
Similar to a film festival format, there will be premieres of new series, current hits, and old favorites, Q&As with creators and casts of today’s hottest shows, and panels which will celebrate and discuss all aspects of television’s past, present, and future. Oh, and there will also be some fun parties!
Unlike most festivals, ATX will have attendees that are both fans and industry professionals. Industry supporters include Arielle Kebbel ("90210", "The Vampire Diaries"), Matt Lanter ("90210"), Chris Gorham ("Covert Affairs", "Ugly Betty"), Liz Tigalaar (Creator of "Life Unexpected", Consulting Producer for "Revenge"), Julie Plec (Executive Producer of "The Vampire Diaries"), Richard Linklater (Austin Film Society, Writer/Director of Before Sunrise and Before Sunset), TVGuide.com, and many other directors, actors, producers, venues, and companies.
ATX is a non-profit organization, and they need your help to kickstart their inaugural year! Their Kickstarter campaign launches today, and the goal is to raise a minimum of $25,000. Co-Founder Caitlin McFarland stated, “We want Kickstarter to be as successful as it can be. We would love for Industry to reach out if they want to be involved in any capacity, and for fans to come to Austin and be a part of a Television experience. Even $1 would make a difference in helping to secure the guests and programs you most want to see.” Rewards for donations will range from ATX festival badges to signed DVDs and posters and exclusive limited edition cuff bracelets by Camille Zarsky.
You can follow ATX on Facebook and Twitter and visit their Website for more details. Feel free to tweet and post to your friends so we can spread the word about this groundbreaking event and help ATX reach their goal!
