When we are kids, most of us are asked what we want to be when we grow up. Oftentimes we rattle off a list of the things we would like to do, but we never really know for sure. Ashton Holmes was one of the lucky kids who, by the age of 6, knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. He always dreamed of becoming an actor on the stage and screen, and now everything he has wished for is coming true.Ashton has come a long way from the Catskills of upstate New York. He has performed in an off-Broadway production of All Shook Up and has been able to see the world through his work on stage. He crossed the country on national tours for both the award winning musical, Rent, and A Christmas Carol. He also performed in The Snow Queen in London's West End.Now that he has excelled on the stage, he has moved on to both the big and small screens. Ashton has appeared in such feature films as A History of Violence with Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris, Wind Chill with Emily Blunt and Normal Adolescent Behavior, which co-stars Amber Tamblyn. His most recent film, Smart People, premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, where it garnered rave reviews. He stars alongside such A-list talent as Dennis Quaid, Thomas Haden Church, Sarah Jessica Parker and a favorite of us here at Young Hollywood, Ellen Page.Upon completing his press commitments at Sundance, he is heading back to Australia, where this busy young actor is currently working on the HBO miniseries, The Pacific. The miniseries is produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and is meant to be a companion piece to their major hit, Band of Brothers, which was also a HBO miniseries. The Pacific tells the story of a group of young soldiers fighting in the Pacific front during World War II. This won't be the first time Ashton has been on the small screen though. He had a recurring role on ABC's popular television series, Boston Legal and has appeared on Ghost Whisperer, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Cold Case. With high profile roles in Smart People and The Pacific, it is certain that if you don't already know Ashton by name, you soon will. He has said that he loves acting and works hard to improve his craft. We here at Young Hollywood think that this talented actor has already proven his skills, but we are looking forward to seeing him continue to conquer the acting world with every project he does!
