They haven’t even begun shooting yet – and don’t plan to until February of next year – but Adam McKay and the makers of Anchorman 2 have already gone ahead and provided a teaser trailer for us, which is currently preceding screenings of The Dictator. Reportedly, the trailer was shot in an effort by Paramount to create “awareness” for the upcoming film, which is still in the writing stage. As if we could forget!
The teaser poster has also been released, which you can check out above, as well as more plot details for this sequel to the iconic 2004 Will Ferrell comedy. Supposedly, the new movie will take place just a few years after the first, as the disco-lovin’ decade of the 1970s turns over into the new, more progressive ‘80s – a time when news stations all over the country were scrambling to diversify, and apparently it’s no different with our favorite Action 4 News team. If you thought have an “anchorlady” on staff was a hard adjustment for Ron and the gang, imagine having to integrate African–Americans and Latinos! Idios mio!! Let the inappropriate humor commence!
So, yeah, back to that teaser trailer. Some enterprising petty criminals bootlegged it during a screening of The Dictator, and because we neither want to condone such activity nor want to deprive you of taking a peek for yourself, we will not embed it here, but you can check it our yourself at this link before it’s inevitably flagged and removed from YouTube.
For those shielding their eyes out of sheer principle (good for you!), the trailer is thus: Ron, Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner), and Brick Tamland (Steve Carrell) stand majestically silhouetted against a backdrop of Broadway-grade lights and mostly revolves around thinly-veiled sexual innuendos and Brick’s mental retardation (his words, not mine, no letters please!). And… that’s pretty much it. But really, what more do you need?
