From across the pond it's the hot sound of the Noisettes, a funky fresh UK band that's worth getting an earful of. The trio consists of two musical dudes and their leading lady, guitarist Dan Smith, and drummer Jamie Morrison, respectively, with singer Shingai Shoniwa. Together, they've played their indie rock for the masses all over Europe and the US, including the Coachella festival. Unfortunately radio is still catching up, but we all know good music is always discovered on the internet! The Noisettes have an Amy Winehouse vibe about their sound. Shingai even sports a radical afro-beehive hairstyle! Lilly Allen, Erykah Badu and Adele fans would definitely be wise to check out their single Never Forget You, a lively love song with a 50's retro rock feel. They also infuse pop-soul into upbeat tunes, such as Don't Upset the Rhythm, which you may remember from that groovy Mazda 2 commercial in early 2009. Beyond their soulful sound, the band has heart! In 2008, they performed to raise money for the homelessness charity Crisis Consequences.
