As a child of the '90s I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself an expert on Aerosmith, but I did grow up with parents who listened to their music and a mom who loved Joe Perry, so I’d say I know enough to have a (somewhat) valid opinion.
The rock band just released their first music video in eight years for their single “Legendary Child”, from the upcoming album, Music From Another Dimension!. The video opens with a Don LaFontaine-esque movie trailer, introducing the band in all its glory, failures, and shenanigans. While I understand that movie-inspired music videos are big right now, I don’t think the extra push is necessary for Aerosmith… I mean, come on, they’re Aerosmith! Their music alone has captivated audiences for decades, and “Legendary Child” is no exception.
Once I got past the movie trailer, I was immediately tapping my toes to the beat. With lines like “I took a chance at the high school dance, never knowin wrong from right”, they bring the listeners back to some of their most iconic songs, and the whole feel to "Legendary Child" instantly reminded me of “Sweet Emotion”.
Aerosmith, “keep that dream alive and eat that honey from the hive”, ‘cause you’ve still got it!
Music From Another Dimension! drops this November.
