If I've said it before I've said it a million times, beauty at a discount is What's Hot!

Celebrities love their spa treatments - and so does everybody else! For most of us mere mortals, however, the high price of looking good hurts in the wallet. Painful hurting.

I'm here for you. So is my new friend Dr. Austin, celebrity dermatologist and creator of AB Skincare, an at-home treatment that rivals what they use in upscale spas. Your (free, thank me later) consultation begins now!

Firstly, there's a new product called AB 10% (which contains 10% Glycolic adic) that I'd like to know more about: What is Glycolic acid? What does it do? Is it safe to use at home?
Glycolic acid is a natural chemical derived from sugar cane most commonly used in chemical peels by your dermatologist. The product gently sloughs away dead skin cells that can clog pores while moisturizing the skin, thus revealing newer, fresher, more youthful skin without irritation or downtime. It also reduces pore size, wrinkles, and acne scarring and is clinically proven to provide anti-aging benefits, both preventing and reversing the appearance of sun damage, hyper-pigmentation and discoloration. AB 10% utilizes the benefits of pure, naturally-based glycolic acid to deliver the same professional results as an in-office glycolic peel. The product also contains vitamins A,C,E Co-Q10, green tea, and antioxidants to protect the skin and is the strongest pure and uncompounded glycolic available in the consumer market, recommended for all skin types.

What are some things everyone should be doing at home on a daily basis to get healthy skin, and what drugstore products can they use to achieve this?
The best thing anyone can do to achieve healthier skin is use other antioxidants, take plenty of Vitamin C , don't smoke and make sure to always wear protection from the sun. For a CVS [drugstore] brand, I recommend Neutrogena Healthy Skin because it has a lower percentage of glycolic, low SPF and moisturizer. AB Sun is both a physical and chemical sun block formulated to deliver ultra broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and to even and smooth the skin tone.

We all know wearing SPF is important, but what do we look for? What do you recommend in terms of coverage? There are many options on the market but unfortunately it's hard to tell what's good and what's not. Aside form AB Sun, do you have any recommendations?
In any sun protection moisturizer, it is important to find a product that says broad spectrum protection or UVA and SPF protection on the bottle. I would recommend anyone to wear SPF 30 all year round to help prevent premature aging and skin cancer. The good thing about AB Sun is it serves as a moisturizer whether out in the sun or not and slows the aging process if applied on a regular basis.

Are at-home procedures risky? Should I get a home microdermabrasion kit?
I don't condemn the microdermabrasion kit, however I am not personally a fan. Just be careful because it can cause irritation with certain skin types.

What about light therapy? There's a new at-home product that looks promising, the Perricone MD Light Renewal, any thoughts on this or similar products? (I've had light therapy and am curious if I should buy one because I liked the results)
" If you are going to do the light therapy, make sure you don't wax because that can be detrimental and damaging to the skin. And also make sure you are not on any antibiotics, as your skin becomes more sensitive to light.

Thanks doc, I know what's going on my Christmas list this year!

Word.
