A&E Drops First Teaser Trailers for "Bates Motel"

Well, stab me in the shower and call me Norman, A&E is making my job very easy this week!

First there were all the photos, and NOW there are two super-brief teaser trailers that have just been released for “Bates Motel”! They are scheduled to start hitting the airwaves on Sunday during AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, which, I guess, kinda makes sense.

In these two seconds-long teasers, there’s really not a whole lot to glean except the insinuation that this show will have a rather hefty body count. The first clip shows a dingy bathroom sink… and we all know what happens in bathrooms at the Bates Motel. Indeed, the camera pulls back slightly to reveal a pair of arms handcuffed to the piping. In the second clip, we’re looking out over a swamp at dusk (or dawn) and what seems to be a light shower of… sparks? Again, we pull back to see some errant bodily appendages in peril, this time a pair of floating legs all aflame.

These teasers put me a tad in mind of the ones we saw earlier this year for “American Horror Story: Asylum”. Indeed, I get the feeling this show will have a distinct feel similar to “AHS” and the (just-cancelled, sadface!) “666 Park Avenue”. Which is certainly an appropriate avenue to take. I also get the feeling that this series will, like the movie Psycho, revolve around the ever-intriguing uncertainty as to WHO is actually committing the murders – Norman or his mother? (Or perhaps, as in the case of Psycho II, neither of them!!! … Netflix it.)

Check out the two clips below!
