Both blondes, they've taken the shade to a super light hue. Not everybody is going to look hot with bleach head, so I had my good friend and celeb stylist Andrea Rothstein give tips on How-To Go Hollywood Blonde. Follow her guide if you want to lighten your locks.
Of course, going lighter isn't a requirement to rock retro. Unlike more modern streaks, a frosty crown or 90's highlights, the 80's look is a single shade of all-over color. Bright is alright, so don't be afraid to really go for it. Pump up browns with rich, red undertones, or dare to take it there with gothic blue-black. Whatever color you land on, make it bold.
As with all things 80's, the bigger the better! It's a hard and fast rule for the decade of decadence: Big = GOOD. Styling products can take tame, limp locks to the next level. I personally prefer the Fat Hair line. They're inexpensive and available at most drug stores (or online at SamySalon.com.fathair) To style, a blow dryer is your best friend! You don't want strands or stick-outs. Think fluffy. A simple blown-out bob looks fabulous and captures the look perfectly. If you want a style switch, mix it up and go totally 80's! Work a brand new look, or sass up your current style.
