3 Reasons to Be Excited for 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials"!

Written by Brittany Taormina. Published: September 17 2015

One of my favorite films from 2014 was The Maze Runner, based on James Dashner’s book series, which, let me tell you, are a-MAZE-ing. (See what I did there?) Wes Ball directed the first film adaptation, which was his first feature film, and a mighty fine job he did, if I may say so.

Now, the follow-up film, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, hits theatres tomorrow! Here are 3 reasons we are stoked!

1. That Cast!

One of our favorites, Dylan O’Brien, stars as the lead and he always does a phenomenal job. He started out as having such a comedic role on “Teen Wolf” and has worked his way into more series role with The Maze Runner series. He does an incredible job of carrying a story through his character's perspective. I am truly convinced we will see him win an Oscar one day! The rest of the cast is also phenomenal. These Gladers are A-class actors. What I love about this cast is that you can tell how close they are on and off set.

The rest of the cast includes Ki Hong Lee, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Dexter Darden, Alexander Flores, Jacob Lofland, Rosa Salazar, Giancarlo Esposito, Patricia Clarkson, Aidan Gillen, Lili Taylor, and many more! Who doesn’t love Patricia Clarkson? Can you say legend?

2. Action, Adventure, and Anxiety!

In the first film, we got to see a lot of great action sequences, such as when Thomas and Minho are running in-between the blades... a personal favorite shot from The Maze Runner. The stunts in The Scorch Trials look like they will be just as if not even more incredible. In the trailer, we see Gladers breaking a glass window with stools and Thomas sliding under a closing door. I’m assuming Dylan’s love for baseball really helped film that scene.

Every time the commercial comes on, I feel anxious about the cranks. Definitely scared to see them brought to life.

3. Location, Location, Location!

In the last film, the main locations were the maze and the glade. It’s going to be really interesting to see out the Gladers react to being in the scorch. There appears to be a lot of sand...
