3 More Books That Should Be Movies: Young Adult Edition!

With the recent release of the movie adaption of the hugely successful young adult novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower (starring Emma Watson and Logan Lerman), I got to thinking: what other popular Young Adult books should become movies?

Here’s a quick list of really good reads that, I believe, need to get the big-screen treatment!

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen
Although there is already a Rob Reiner-directed film version of this endearing he-said/she-said novel, it was not true to the era in which the book was written in, and thusly, didn’t really live up to expectations the way fans wanted it to. Perhaps, instead of a '50s-themed movie, like the way Reiner directed it, one that takes places in the time frame mentioned in the book (between 1994-2000) would make this tale of the free-spirited Juli Baker and Bryce Loski (the boy with the flip-flop feelings), a movie people would go out in droves to see.

Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson
Many film adaption rumors have been floating back and forth in the entertainment industry since 2007, but we can still remain hopeful that Patterson’s action series featuring a medley of winged teen heroes will one day make a big screen debut. Focusing on runaway Max and her veritable motley crew of friends whose main goal is to discover the truth behind their origins, with all the action scenes described in the book, we would assume that the Maximum Ride series would translate into kick-butt, box office success.

Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
15-year-old DJ is forced to take over her family’s dairy farm after her father gets injured, and her world is shaken upside-down when she falls for someone she didn’t expect to fall for -- her rival Brian. This down-home story, featuring an unlikely romance and a sports-loving heroine, would be a HIT if a film adaption was made, especially for the romantic comedy lovers in all of us.

Those are a few more of our book picks that we someday wish to see on the silver screen! What are yours?
