2013 NBA All-Star Weekend Highlights!

In Houston this weekend, celebrities from all parts of the nation came together to watch or participate in the NBA’s All-Star Weekend. From Jay-Z and Alicia Keys to Ne-Yo and Beyoncé, celebrities came to watch and support the best basketball players in the country. For all you fans out there, here’s a little recap for you in case you missed it and all of the re-runs they aired...

On Saturday, festivities kicked off with the Shooting Stars Challenge. We all have to give the East their props on this challenge because Team Bosh -- yes, Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat -- took over the competition. Joining Bosh on the winning team was the legendary Dominique Wilkins from the Atlanta Hawks and Swin Cash from the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.

But the West answered back in the Skills Challenge! Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers took the title from last year’s winner, Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs, finishing the course in less than 30 seconds!

However, momentum shifted yet again as the East started to bring their game! In the Three-Point Contest, Kyrie Irving, currently with the Cleveland Cavaliers, took home the win for the East by missing only 5 shots out of 25 shots players were given! The man can shoot some threes!

The East kept up their game in the Slam Dunk contest as well. Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors took the title from the reigning champion, Jeremy Evans of the Utah Jazz. Although the Dunk competition wasn’t as exciting as years before it, the players showed a lot of creativity; unfortunately, they just couldn’t execute.

Being a typical Katy Perry California Girl, I was happy to see the West come out on top in the All-Star game on Sunday. They beat the East by a narrow margin of 143-138, with the Clippers' very own CP3 (AKA Chris Paul) scoring 20 points and taking home the MVP trophy for the night.

It was a great weekend for the fans and the players to get a little break from the season and recharge those batteries! We’re halfway through the basketball season, and things are only heating up! With playoffs just around the corner, I can’t wait to see which teams will be lining up to fight for the championship this year!
