Another year, another great Halloween -- another opportunity to give celebrities, who already have a penchant for this kinda thing, to really go all out and wow us with some of the most fabulous costumes that put our crappy little $14.99 store-bought sexy fire hydrant outfit to shame. (Sigh.)
So, while most of L.A. is still waking up bleary-eyed, with the smell of cheap stage make-up filling the air, let's take a look back at some of the best Halloween costumes the stars were rocking this year!

"Modern Family" starlet Ariel Winter taps into Disney for her Halloween inspiration with this cute (and grown-up!) Jasmine ensemble.

That girl is pooiissooonn! Even dressed as a villainous character, Bella Thorne is still the face of innocence and glamour!

The Divine Miss M -- AKA Bette Midler -- showed up to her annual HULAWEEN bash in NYC as the ghost of Coco Chanel!

Just another day for Chloe Moretz! The star of Kick-Ass, Let Me In, and the remake of Carrie stepped out in another frightful ensemble.

Not sure what exactly Christina Milian is supposed to be (a cupcake?), but I never wanna stop looking at it.

Apparently, Darren Criss is dressed as the kid from Moonrise Kingdom, but does it really matter? 'Scuse me while I swoon for a moment...

The Hannigan-Denisof Family can always be counted on for a great Halloween photo op! Allyson Hannigan, Alexis Denisof, and their young'uns go all out every year!

Oh no he didn't!!! Deryck Whibley decided to step out this year dressed as... his ex-wife Avril Lavigne! And the cherry on this cupcake? His current girlfriend dressed as Avril's current fiancé, Chad Kroeger. Burn!!!

From one music legend to another, hip-hop mogul Diddy channeled his inner purple for this homage to Prince.

Possibly the most perfect marriage between celeb and Halloween alter ego this season belongs to Scott Disick, who is himself indeed only a hatchet and homicial streak away from American Psycho's Patrick Bateman.

When Ellen Degeneres teasingly dressed as Sofia Vergara (complete with Emmys wardrobe-malfunctioning dress) on her show, I know it was meant for laughs, but... seriously, how STUNNING does she look?!?! CoverGirl indeeeed!

The award for most meta costume this year goes to Emma Roberts, who channeled her aunty Julia Roberts's most famous character (and outfit) from Pretty Woman.

For those not familiar with local L.A. culture, this one might fly over your heads; here we have Fergie dressed as Angelyne, a famous L.A. fixture since the '80s, a model and "actress" known more for purchasing billboards of herself and therefore making her somewhat of a Hollywood icon. Josh Duhamel is dressed as Dennis Woodruff, a filmmaker and actor who also brought the art of self-promotion to another level by driving around town in cars painted with his likeness and information in the hopes that someone would cast him in something; he still does the same thing, only with his independently-shot films. Good one, guys, you did their work for them!

Hilary Duff looks perfectly buxom and sexy in her Dia de los Muertos get-up. I, for one, hope she never loses the baby weight.

Jessica Alba and her fam look simply incredible (see what I did there?) as the superhero Parr family.

Ariel, eat your heart out! Kim Kardashian looks perfectly fishy in her gorgeous mermaid get-up.

Too soon? The Grease characters are always a great go-to costume duo any year, but was this such a great time for LeAnn Rimes to dress as (ahem) Sandy? Well, either way, she looks smokin'!

On the left, we have One Direction's Liam Payne as the caped crusader himself, Batman; and on the right, we have Olympic diver Tom Daley combining Halloween with Opposites Day.

Lucy Hale does a solid for the bronies out there in this colorful unicorn ensemble.

Neil Patrick Harris as Sexy Vampire Guy. 'Nuff said.

Our favorite Hollywood sibs, Rico and Raini Rodriguez, get their nostalgia on as a couple of hip cats from the '50s!

Oscar-winning director Ron Howard decided to channel another artist who didn't quite meet the same success as him... but he had a little oopsie. Ron confessed to Twitter: "I messed up and cut off the wrong ear....that's why I need researchers 4 my movies"

Stick 'em up! Ryan Seacrest and gal pal Julianne Hough dress as Bonnie & Clyde, and it looks like they brought a couple of furry little bandits along for the ride!

Who's that under the shaggy yeti get-up? Why, it's none other than Shaun of the Dead star, Simon Pegg!
Thanks for another great Halloween, Hollywood!
What did YOU dress up as this year?
