2012 has been one wildfire of a year in terms of pop music and pop culture. So much has happened, it was almost hard to keep up. Boy bands came back onto the scene in full force, pop princesses reinforced their reign, and new artists even broke out and had us singing songs we never thought we’d even sing.
To celebrate the amazing year full of great music, here’s a list (in no particular order) of some of the best videos of 2012!
Justin Bieber ft. Big Sean – "Boyfriend"
The first single of his most recent release, and his most successful album to date, Believe, Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” solidified his throne as the teen heartthrob king.
One Direction – "Live While We’re Young"
In the same way “Boyfriend” worked for the Biebs, “Live While We’re Young”, from their sophomore album Take Me Home, helped U.K. imports One Direction earn a permanent spot on the Boy Band Hall of Fame.
Rihanna – "Diamonds"
Pop’s reigning and most prolific queen, RiRi released the artistically visual and ever-so cryptic video for her single “Diamonds” off her 7th album, Unapologetic, late in the year, and who isn’t singing along to it whenever it plays on the radio?
Ke$ha – "Die Young"
This pop princess has never looked better in any of her videos. I mean, Ke$ha, Illuminati references, catchy lyrics, killer dance moves... What else do you need?!
Lana Del Rey – "Ride"
One of 2012’s breakout stars, Lana shows us her vastly mysterious side with her nearly 10-minute long video for “Ride”.
Taylor Swift – "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"
Teen queen T.Swift does her thing in the video for her first single from her newest album, Red.
will.i.am ft. Britney Spears – "Scream and Shout"
Music’s most versatile man teamed up with our favorite new "X Factor" judge for this club smash!
Bruno Mars – "Locked Out of Heaven"
Bruno returned onto the scene with his mellow, old-school hit “Locked Out of Heaven”, and the video just looked so much to watch, let alone want to be a part of.
Carly Rae Jepsen – "Call Me Maybe"
Probably 2012’s catchiest and most played song, no list of music videos would be complete for this year without a mention of Ms. Jepsen, who broke out as Canada’s pop princess, Justin Bieber’s opening act, and the biggest viral sensation of 2012. I mean, even YH did a "Call Me Maybe" vid!
G.O.O.D Music – "Mercy"
Swag is only the beginning of trying to describe the hip-hop superstars that lend verses to this black & white epic, including Kanye West, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Pusha T.
With a year full of such incredible music, we just can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store for us. What were some of YOUR fave music videos of 2012?
