As a kid, I could only dream that my comic geek fantasies could come to life on the big screen. Now, superhero fantasy fare is box office gold! Here are 10 of Hollywood's best comics to movies:

The Crow: A very chilling, gothic tale about revenge from beyond the grave. It's spooky, yet sexy and also sad. The film's star Brandon Lee died during filmmaking. The movie is in tribute to his memory.

X-Men: This film unquestionably blew the doors open for what was once considered cheesy source material {comics for blockbuster movies.

Sin City: Expertly represented on film to reflect the comic. There is no doubt this movie is a comic come to life.

300: An excellent follow-up to Sin City!

Iron Man: In my oh-so-humble opinion, the best comic book superhero adaptation ever. The gold {and red standard has been set!

Tim Burton's Batman: A darkly whimsical spiral into the world of Batman as only Burton could accomplish. Solid cast and story stand up to today.

The Dark Knight: A completely different take on the same essential story, Bats versus the Joker, except ultra hard and gritty.

Superman with Christopher Reeve: A bit cheesy by today's standards, but a movie-comic classic nonetheless.

Men In Black: Everything a good sci-fi action comedy should be. Funny, exciting, over-the-top, quirky, creative and completely enjoyable after repeated watching.

A History of Violence: Yes, this was a comic book! Loosely based on the 1997 graphic novel, History is mostly unknown as being comic-based, like Road to Perdition and Ghost World. The movie taps into dramatic, deep stuff that far exceeds expectations for a typical comic book film.
