Actress Yara Shahidi is set to star her own Black-Ish spin-off series.

The 17-year-old portrays Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross' onscreen daughter Zoey on the hit sitcom, but now she will branch out with her own series to chronicle her character's university life.

College-ish will also feature her Black-ish co-star Deon Cole, although the majority of other characters will be all new, according to franchise creator Kenya Barris.

"I never thought they'd let me put Black-ish on the air, let alone give me a spin-off," Barris told Variety.com. "I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to continue working with Yara and the rest of this talented young cast."

College-ish will premiere on the Freeform network next year (18).

Yara will be likely be able to relate to many of her character's school experiences as she is also preparing for college life. She recently revealed she had been offered admission to every college she had applied for, including prestigious law school Harvard, although the actress, who had former First Lady Michelle Obama write her recommendation letter, has yet to share where she has decided to attend classes.

Meanwhile, Yara celebrated the new gig by taking her friend and fellow actress Rowan Blanchard to her school prom this weekend (19-21May17).

Yara, who wore a green chiffon pleated Ungaro dress for the occasion, shared a snap of the two young stars laughing before the bash, and captioned it, "Pre-prom giggles."
