WAYANS BROTHERS FACING PLAGIARISM LAWSUIT

Comedic clan the Wayans Brothers are facing legal action amid accusations from a former assistant they copied portions of the book 101 Ways To Know You're A Golddigger and published it as their own.

Jared Edwards, who worked for the family from 1995 to 2005, filed suit against Keenen Ivory Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans and St. Martin's Press in Manhattan federal court in New York on Thursday (17Dec09) .

Edwards claims he wrote jokes about women who seek wealth and status through romance for his You Know You're a Golddigger... book in 2005. He states the brothers rejected the book before they published their own tome in May (09).

He is seeking unspecified damages.
