Tom Holland wants Chris Pratt or Jake Gyllenhaal as Uncharted co-star

Actor Tom Holland would love to reunite with his fellow Marvel star Chris Pratt onscreen in his upcoming film adaptation of hit video game Uncharted.

Holland, who tackles the titular role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, got to work alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy star in the forthcoming Avengers: Infinity War, and the 20-year-old is eager to recruit Pratt for his next project.

Tom was recently cast as young treasure hunter Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie, and he is convinced either Jake Gyllenhaal or Pratt would be a good fit to play his onscreen sidekick and professional rogue, Sully.

"I think Jake Gyllenhaal could be really cool, but I actually went to the Jurassic World film set the other day to visit my friend who is directing it, and Chris Pratt is on that film, who I have become very good friends with over the last few months, and I think he would be a great Sully," Tom told Yahoo!.

Night at the Museum filmmaker Shawn Levy will direct the adaptation, and he plans to rework the story as a prequel to the popular franchise, which debuted in 2007.

Tom admits Chris would have been the perfect actor to portray Drake if Shawn had wanted to stick to the same timeline as that of the video games: "If it was an older movie, I would say that Chris should play Nathan," Tom mused, "but I think he would be a good Sully and I love working with Chris."

Plot details have yet to be revealed, but the film will reportedly draw inspiration from the 2011 installment of the game, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

Tom's casting as Drake last week (ends26May17) stirred a little controversy among fans on social media as many thought he was not rugged enough to tackle the game's main protagonist, but the British star reveals he is actually responsible for helping to make the film adaptation happen.

"It was a conversation I had with (Sony Pictures studio head) Tom Rothman about the potential of different movies that I'd like to work with with Sony and I just had the idea that maybe a young Nathan Drake would be something that audiences would be very interested in," he explained. "I met Shawn at the MTV Awards and we had a brief chat about the potential of doing an origin story rather than copying what the games have done and it seems like people have been really excited about it, I know I am. I'm excited to have some further conversations about it."

A release date for Uncharted has yet to be set.
