The Weeknd has launched his Spring Icons line for retailer H&M with a new video.

The new collection, which will be in stores later this week (02Mar17), will be full of pieces the singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, hopes will become iconic.

“There are things that I love, people that I like, but the concept of an icon can be a cliche and I don’t like cliches," he muses in the 90-second film which features the Canadian in Los Angeles. "Iconic clothes become icons for a reason. They're fundamental if you live them, and walk over them, and sing about them."

He also reveals that the black bomber jacket featured has become one of his go-to clothing staples.

"It's a piece that men can wear every day, and it's something I wear for any occasion," he reveals to Billboard. "For me, bomber jackets are smart, but they are also street and have a lot of attitude.”

H&M’s head of menswear design Andreas Lowenstam is thrilled to land the star as a spokesperson, telling Billboard, "Abel has such a great personal style, and yet is also universal. It's an attitude that encapsulates the mood in menswear right now, and we know that men around the world are going to love wearing pieces from his collection.”
