Hip-hop stars The Roots have recruited Creed actor Michael B. Jordan to feature in a basketball-themed musical for the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend.

The musicians have been tapped to put together a mini-show to air before Sunday's (19Feb17) All-Star Game in New Orleans, Louisiana, and they have enlisted an all-star line-up for the original production.

In addition to Jordan, rap veterans DJ Jazzy Jeff and Run-D.M.C.'s Darryl McDaniels will make appearances, as will Hamilton actor Daveed Diggs and singer/rapper Jidenna.

The Evolution of Greatness musical, which will be composed by Questlove and his The Roots bandmates, will recount the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s history since the 1950s, reports Billboard.com.

Meanwhile, Nick Cannon, Master P, Arcade Fire's Win Butler, and Andy Grammer will be among the celebrities hitting the court to face off for Friday night's (17Feb17) Celebrity Game, and Joe Jonas' pop group DNCE will perform during Saturday's (18Feb17) All-Star festivities, with DJ Khaled providing the soundtrack for the three-point shootout competition.

Jazz singer Jon Batiste will belt out the U.S. and Canadian national anthems before Sunday night's All-Star Game between the Eastern and Western Conference teams, and R&B star John Legend will headline the halftime show.
