The Black Keys cancel European tour
The Black Keys have axed their entire European tour after drummer Patrick Carney dislocated his shoulder while on vacation.
The rocker had to be hospitalized in St. Barths earlier this month (Jan15) after he was slammed to the ocean floor by a massive wave while swimming at the beach.
At the time, Carney managed to laugh about the incident by sharing
a snap of himself on Instagram.com and writing, "Tune into my new
lifetime (network) movie. 'Dislocated shoulder' airing right
now."
However, the musician is still struggling with the injury,
prompting the Gold on the Ceiling hitmakers to pull the European
leg of their tour, which was due to kick off next month
(Feb15).
A statement released by the band reads: "We are very sorry to have
to cancel our upcoming performances through March 10th. Patrick
needs time to heal.
"We thank all of our fans for their support and we're looking
forward to getting back on the road."
Carney's injury has also resulted in The Black Keys canceling their
appearance at a Bob Dylan tribute show on 6 Feburary (15), when the
folk rocker will be honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year in
Los Angeles.
The band is next scheduled to hit the road in Australia in April
(15).
