Taylor Swift's beachside retreat part of new privacy law

Taylor Swift's Rhode Island retreat is even more exclusive thanks to a new local privacy law.

Officials at a state Supreme Court have upheld a lower court's ruling that allowed landowners in a section of coastal Westerly to put up fences to keep the public off a two-mile stretch of beach.

Local environmental groups had argued the land had been dedicated to the public more than a century ago, but the lawmakers sided with the homeowners on Tuesday (02May17), ruling the beach is privately owned.

The Shake if Off singer frequently vacations at her beachfront home.

Meanwhile, Taylor's Beverly Hills home was recently declared a historic landmark.

The mansion the 27-year-old bought in 2015 once belonged to Hollywood movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn, and the singer applied for historic landmark approval in January (17).

Officials at Beverly Hills City Council granted her request last month (Mar17).
