Taylor Swift was blown away by the positive reaction she received from within the music industry after opting to remove all her music from streaming service Spotify.
The Shake It Off hitmaker took all her tracks down from the site without prior notice in November (14), days after the release of her new album 1989.
Spotify bosses issued a statement urging Swift to change her mind, and her fans launched a petition attempting to persuade the singer to return to the music portal but Swift stuck by her decision because she did not want to give her music away for free.
The pop star was surprised by the debate her move caused and how much backing she received from her fellow musicians.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I didn't think that it would be shocking to anyone... With as many ways as artists are personalising their musical distribution, it didn't occur to me that this would be anything that anyone would talk about. But I could never have expected so many text messages, emails and phone calls from other artists, writers and producers saying thank you."
