Taylor Swift surprised fans during her show in North Carolina on Wednesday (21Oct15) by bringing out country music star Miranda Lambert.

The Bad Blood singer went back to her country roots by inviting Miranda onstage at the Greensboro Coliseum to perform her track Little Red Wagon.

Video footage shows Miranda wearing a black top emblazoned with "1989" in sequins as a nod Taylor's album and tour name, and she is held up by a group of backing dancers to kick off the performance, before she struts down the stage to join Taylor.

Miranda sent a message to Taylor on Twitter.com following the show, writing, "Amazing show! #inspired".

She is just one of many country stars who have joined Taylor on the 1989 tour for a duet. Others include Keith Urban, The Band Perry and Dierks Bentley. Her long list of pop star surprise guests include Justin Timberlake, Ellie Goulding and Avril Lavigne.

The latest leg of the tour ends on 31 October (15), and then Taylor will head to Asia and Down Under.
