Taylor Swift booked for stage return on Super Bowl eve

Taylor Swift will help kick off the celebrations for the 2017 Super Bowl by headlining a pre-game bash in Houston, Texas.

The pop superstar has been enjoying some down time after a busy 2015, but she is now gearing up to return to the stage as part of a new multi-year deal with cable network AT&T DIRECTV.

Taylor will make her official live comeback at a concert on 4 February (17), on the eve of the Super Bowl, in Houston, Texas, where AT&T officials are set to build a custom venue just for the gig.

The Blank Space hitmaker celebrated the partnership on Twitter on Tuesday (04Oct16), when she posted a shot of a football jersey bearing her lucky number 13.

"Thanks @ATT," she captioned the image. "This is gonna be fun."

Specific details about the AT&T DIRECTV sponsorship deal have yet to be revealed, but brand officials are equally excited about working with Swift for the pre-Super Bowl gig.

"We're thrilled to reach a deal to bring Taylor and her unique talents to her fans and our customers in new and exclusive ways," AT&T CEO John Stankey said in a statement. "We're excited to get event tickets into the hands of Taylor's fans and exclusive content from the event to our customers and celebrate the combination of one of the world's biggest artists with one of the world's biggest sporting events."

It is not yet known if the singer, who is already a spokesmodel for Apple Music and Diet Coke, will debut new material at the special AT&T event, but it was recently reported she had returned to the recording studio following her split from British actor Tom Hiddleston, with whom she enjoyed a brief summer fling.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has landed the coveted Super Bowl Halftime Show on 5 February (17), following in the footsteps of fellow entertainers including Katy Perry and Coldplay, who were joined by previous headliners Beyonce and Bruno Mars at this year's (16) National Football League (NFL) championship game.
